Emmy Award-winning sideline reporter with over a decade of MLS experience joins CLTFCā€™s broadcast teamĀ Ā

CHARLOTTE, NC (Monday, January 24, 2022) ā€“ Charlotte FC today announced Katie Witham has joined the Clubā€™s local broadcast team as sideline reporter for English-language matches on WSOC-TV and TV64.

Witham, who most recently served as the sideline reporter and host of FS1ā€™s Major League Soccer coverage, joins play-by-play announcer Eric Krakauer and color analyst Lloyd Sam to round out the local broadcast team for the Clubā€™s inaugural season.Ā

Witham has been on the broadcast team of two MLS Cups, 2018 and 2020, and was part of the first-ever all-female national broadcast of a U.S. menā€™s pro soccer match.

ā€œI am thrilled to join Charlotte FC as part of their inaugural season broadcast team. To be a part of this Clubā€™s history and help showcase their first season in Major League soccer is truly an honor,ā€ said Witham.Ā ā€œNot many people get the opportunity to take a front row seat during the teamā€™s first-ever season and Iā€™m looking forward to the opportunity to help Eric Krakauer and Lloyd Sam bring that to life each week on the telecasts.ā€

Witham, a graduate of Capital University where she was a co-captain on the womenā€™s soccer team, began her career in MLS as a sideline reporter for the Columbus Crew in 2005. In addition to her work in Columbus, Witham spent time as a sideline reporter for Fox Soccer Channel, ESPN and league-owned channels.Ā

She also covered menā€™s and womenā€™s ACC soccer for Fox Sports South.Ā

Outside of soccer, Witham is no stranger to Charlotte as she hosted the ACC Networkā€™s ACC Blitz and Halftime Report from 2015 to 2018. Sheā€™s also been a correspondent, studio reporter and sideline reporter for the Big Ten Network since 2008.Ā Ā

Witham began her career as a radio DJ at WWCD in Columbus.Ā

ā€œWeā€™re very excited to add one of the most well-respected sideline reporters throughout the entire country to our local broadcast team. Katieā€™s reporting experience at both the club and national level in Major League Soccer will be an invaluable asset to our broadcasts,ā€ said Club President Nick Kelly. ā€œWith this addition we wrap up our television broadcast talent for the 2022 season and our fans will benefit from the world-class team we have assembled both in English and Spanish.ā€
