CHARLOTTE, NC (Thursday, April 7, 2022) – Charlotte FC today announced the promotion of Bobby Belair to Technical Director.
Belair joined Charlotte FC in April 2020 as the Director of Player Personnel where he oversaw the team’s salary budget for the inaugural roster build.
“I’m thrilled to be entrusted with a larger role and responsibilities that coincide with my passions, values, and love for the sport,” said Belair. “Being able to oversee critical roles within the sporting department and enhance pathways for players throughout the Carolinas, which I call home, is a dream come true.”
Belair, who will continue to work closely with Sporting Director Zoran Krneta, assumes a role that will work in partnership with First Team leadership to help guide the sporting vision across the First Team, MLS NEXT Pro, and Academy programs. This includes working with the Scouting Department on player acquisitions and with Executive Director of Academy, Bryan Scales, and MLS NEXT Pro President, Darrius Barnes, to oversee player pathways to the First Team.
“Bobby has been instrumental in our sporting operations for the past two years and we’re delighted to announce his well-earned promotion to Technical Director,” said Zoran Krneta. “His professional growth since joining Charlotte FC has been clear to see and he’s excited for the challenge to step into this new role within our organization.”
A former Clemson University and Brown University midfielder, Belair previously worked for Atlanta United as the Manager of Player Personnel.
