Charlotte FC fell at home to C.F. Pachuca in Leagues Cup action. A decisive goal in stoppage time propelled the visitors to a victory.
An evenly played first frame resulted in a scoreless affair at the interval.
Winger Rodolfo Aloko subbed into the game in the 58th minute and made an immediate impact, nearly putting the hosts in front.
Allan Saint-Maximin made his Charlotte FC debut in the 72nd minute, subbing on for Liel Abada on the left wing. Maxi drew a penalty in the 81st minute, which gave Charlotte a prime opportunity to take the lead. However, the penalty kick taken by Archie Goodwin was saved by Pachuca.
Moments into stoppage time, the visitors scored the game’s only goal, which gave them the lead and ultimately, the victory.
Charlotte FC return to league play Saturday, with The Crown set to host Columbus Crew. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST at Bank of America Stadium.
