Cape Verdean international becomes club’s first permanent transfer ahead of inaugural season
Charlotte, NC (Tuesday, January 31, 2023)- Crown Legacy FC today announced the Club has signed forward Iuri Tavares from top-flight Portuguese club Estoril Praia SAD.
Tavares becomes the Club’s first-ever permanent transfer.
“Iuri is a talented striker who recently broke through at the international level for Cape Verde,” said Head Coach Jose Tavares. “We love investing and bringing through young players, and it’s our job to give Iuri the time to develop and grow within our system to become a top player at the MLS NEXT Pro level and hopefully beyond.”
Tavares, 21, rose through the prestigious youth academy of Benfica before making his professional debut for Vitoria Guimaraes on November 21, 2021.
Tavares earned his first international call up and cap representing Cape Verde in a friendly with San Marino.
