The 22-year-old Brazilian joins as a key piece to the CLFC backline ahead of the Club's inaugural season
Charlotte, NC (Thursday, February 23, 2023)- Crown Legacy FC today announced the Club has signed defender João Guilherme who last played for Portuguese top-flight squad Portimonense SC.
“João is a great defender with an ability to help on the offensive end both in the air and with his distribution from the back,” said Technical Director Bobby Belair. “His strength in tackles and ability to defend attackers one on one will be vital for the Club and his growth with us. We are thrilled to help João in the next stage of his development and see him grow within our organization.”
Guilherme, 22, mainly featured in Portimonense SC’s U-23 squad as a center back, anchoring the Portuguese club’s backline. The Brazilian made 17 appearances for the club and netted two goals during his two seasons at Portimonense.
Guilherme is a product of the storied Brazilian academy Gremio where he featured 13 times between the U-19 and U-20 teams while also netting one goal.
